Summer is over, and even though I don’t love the rain and the cold weather, there is one thing I love about the cooler months – football. Now, that’s Aussie Rules football… NOT soccer, or rugby, or any other silly game! I’ve been a football fan for as long as I can remember, as a little girl I loved going to watch and cheer for my dad every weekend when he played for our local team. Despite both my mum and dad being passionate supporters of the Carlton Blues, I chose the North Melbourne Kangaroos as my team when I was very young and have proudly worn the royal blue and white ever since.

I went to AAMI Stadium to watch them play yesterday, and even though we didn’t get a win we put up a good fight and I had an absolutely fantastic day. The post-game members’ function was great and I got to meet two players – Jack Ziebell and Scott McMahon. I was pretty drunk by that stage and proposed to Ziebell while he was on stage answering questions hahaha.

Anyway, I’m excited for the rest of the 2010 season. I hope I can make it to a few more games, and am planning on going to Melbourne at some stage so I can watch my boys at a home game!

Life is good. Five weeks til new boobies!

The boyfriend took me to see a movie tonight and we decided on ‘Surrogates’. We actually had no idea what it was going to be about – for some reason we were under the impression it was some kind of alien invasion film.

It was actually pretty good. The core concept focusing on taking the inherent human obsession with being perfect to a whole new level reminded me in some ways of the basic premise behind one of my favourite films of recent times, ‘Repo! A Genetic Opera’. Both films look at a different version of a futuristic world in which our need for physical perfection and total success have become not only completely consuming but also dangerous. ‘Repo!’ would still be my favourite of the two, without a doubt, but I’m a sucker for a catchy musical and the divine Anthony Stewart Head playing the terrifying and tormented Repo Man makes it score very high in my books.

The only slight let down regarding ‘Surrogates’ for me was the ending, I won’t give too much away but I was hoping for something a little more macabre. That being said, I’m a sick twisted fuck who would be happy if every film ended in similar vein to the much underrated ‘Halloween III – Season of the Witch’. If you haven’t seen it, I’d really recommend watching it. Despite being part of the ‘Halloween’ series, the film detaches itself entirely from its predecessors so if you don’t go into it expecting another Michael Myers slash-fest and instead take it on it’s own merits, I think you’ll enjoy the fabulously dark ending.

P.S. Criss Angel is a douche. His show just started on my TV and I felt the urge to add that in. Good night!
